The Andrea O'Donnell Womyn’s Outreach Association is an intersectional feminist organization on campus with the explicit mission to empower and liberate the female student population of San Diego State University and the surrounding San Diego community.
The Womyn’s Outreach Association is a student-run organization on campus with the explicit mission to empower and liberate the female student population of San Diego State University and unequivocally has zero tolerance for sexism, racism, classism, ableism, homophobia, and fat-phobia. We are a multi-racial feminist group that focuses on issues of inequality and oppression that effect marginalized communities such as womyn, people of color, and LGBTQIA. Our primary focus is to eradicate sexism, genderism, homophobia, racism, violence, the control and abuse of the female body and mind, and other local and global issues that impact the lives of womyn. WOA contributes to the overall feminist goal of an equitable and just society for everyone through activism, education, discussion, advocacy, outreach, and the provision of resources to all individuals on campus.
From the AOD WOA President
The Andrea O'Donnell Womyn's Outreach Association strives to be a source of inspiration to the SDSU community. Seeing WOA grow and progress as an organization has truly been a humbling experience. WOA continues to build relationships with administration, students, faculty, and staff to address issues that affect our close-knit campus community. WOA encourages activism and organized change, and one of the ways we do that is through reaching out and building relationships with everyone. Feminism should make you question the norm and inspire you to become part of the movement for a more equitable society for all. I urge you to join the feminist discourse and become the change you wish to see!
Our organization, which was formerly just called the Womyn's Outreach Association, was renamed in honor of the exceptional SDSU Women's Studies student and Women's Resource Center leader who was murdered by her boyfriend in 1995. Andrea O'Donnell's work on behalf of all womyn inspires us to raise awareness and advocate for the victims and survivors of domestic violence. Andrea's plight to empower womyn lives on through the Womyn's Outreach Association.
